To get BOHS Foam Clay out of a silicone mold intact, follow these steps:
Method 1:
Put BOHS FOAM CLAY into a silicon mold, press it very well, then put it into the freezer overnight, the BOHS FOAM CLAY can be taken out intact.
Method 2:
-
Prepare the mold: Clean your silicone mold thoroughly and ensure it is free from any dust, dirt, or debris. You can use mild soap and water to clean the mold and then let it air dry completely.
-
Apply a release agent: Although silicone molds are naturally non-stick, using a release agent will make it easier to remove the BOHS Foam Clay without damaging the details. Apply a thin layer of a release agent like talcum powder, cornstarch, or a thin layer of cooking oil spray. Be sure to apply the release agent evenly, covering all surfaces of the mold.
-
Press the clay into the mold: Take a small amount of BOHS Foam Clay and press it firmly into the mold. Ensure that the clay fills all the nooks and crannies to capture the details of the mold. Remove any excess clay and smooth the back of the clay piece to achieve an even thickness.
-
Let the clay dry partially: Allow the BOHS Foam Clay to dry slightly in the mold. This process may take a few hours or even up to a day, depending on the thickness of the clay and the humidity in your environment. As the clay dries, it will contract slightly, making it easier to remove from the mold.
-
Carefully remove the clay: When the clay has dried partially and feels firm to the touch but still slightly pliable, gently flex the silicone mold to loosen the clay piece. Use your fingers or a blunt tool to carefully pry the clay out of the mold. Be patient and work slowly to avoid damaging the clay.
-
Let the clay dry completely: Once you have removed the clay from the mold, place it on a non-stick surface (such as wax paper or parchment paper) and let it dry completely. This may take an additional 24-48 hours, depending on the thickness of the clay and the environmental conditions.
-
Sand and finish: After the clay has dried completely, you can sand any rough edges with fine-grit sandpaper. Apply paint or any other desired finish, and seal the piece with a clear varnish or sealant to protect it.
